Welcome to Butter & Batter Bakery, By Elizabeth

At Butter & Batter Bakery, we believe every visit should feel special. From the aroma of fresh treats baking in the oven to beautifully decorated cakes waiting for their celebrations, every detail is designed to create a warm, inviting experience.

As a small, locally owned bakery, we take pride in baking everything with care and attention to detail. Whether we're preparing an elegant wedding cake, decorating birthday cupcakes, or filling the display case with freshly made cookies, our goal is always the same—to create desserts that taste just as beautiful as they look.

Our Story

The first home of Butter & Batter Bakery—a handcrafted roadside farm stand where the bakery first began serving the Lapel, Indiana community.

Our Beginnings

Butter & Batter Bakery began with a simple dream in a small farm stand known as The Little Red Hut.

Each weekend, it was filled with freshly baked treats, welcoming neighbors and visitors alike. It was there that our passion for creating beautiful desserts first found a home.

Today, The Little Red Hut continues to serve our community, offering fresh eggs, seasonal produce, and a small piece of where our story began.

In its earliest days, it was home to a shoe shop, and later became a neighborhood gas station. If you look closely at the parking lot, you'll still find a small reminder of that history—a wide rectangular section of concrete marking where a gas pump once stood.

After five months of thoughtful renovation, the building was transformed into what it is today: Butter & Batter Bakery, By Elizabeth. While much has changed over the years, one thing remains the same—this building continues to be a place where our community gathers.

Today, we're honored to add our own chapter to its history, creating handcrafted desserts, celebrating life's milestones, and welcoming every guest who walks through our doors.

Our Bakery

Our storefront in the heart of Lapel has a story all its own. Through local research, we've learned that this building has served many purposes over the years.
